Tweety bird

Okay, so I'll admit it. I wasn't the first to jump on this Twitter Bandwagon. I just didn't understand the point of it. C'mon... what can someone possibly say in just 140 characters?

Being on a webinar last night with two amazing internet marketers with the Online MLM Mastermind system (http://mastermind.thecardteacher.com) gave me a whole new vision for the purpose of what twitter is all about.

Twitter itself is a microblog. I consider is a condensed personal website. A place for me to share my thoughts, feelings, recommendations and insights, while connecting with like minded individuals.

In a few minutes per day, you can amass hundreds if not thousands of followers in a matter of weeks. In fact, I've only been actively using twitter for one month, and I already have 2000 followers! Can you believe that?

But like anything I look for tools.

Tools that can help us systematize, automate, customize... the whole works!

I found some great tools that I wanted to share with you today with how to implement twitter in your day-to-day life, without becoming a nusance or a hassle.

I had no idea HOW to navigate twitter or retweet or DM or whatchamacallit til I downloaded TweetDeck. It's an application you can have going on in the background of your computer that puts your twitter account into easy to read columns. Column one is your following's tweets. Column two is incoming messages/retweets. Column three is private direct messages (or DM's).

You can also tweet directly from TweetDeck, customize with beautiful colors, and interlink with Facebook status updates.

Ahhh...the productivity tool for busy tweeple.

... and so much more!

I love TweetLater because I am able to schedule my set tweets for the day. These include specific quotes, blogs, articles, Bible verses that I want to share. Systematically and consistently each day. Then, throughout the day and week, I can go in my twitter and add random tweets and talk to people... but I'm not being sporadic.

I find that consistency/practicability works best with Social Media.

I read it best: "Generic is only good for prescriptions!"

Twitter currently offers 12 stock backgrounds along with pleasing preset colors for the elements on the page. You can also modify the colors of the overall background, text, links, sidebar background and the sidebar border.

The first thing any twitter user should do is CHANGE the generic background, unless you don’t like standing out from the crowd, in which case you can stop reading now.

Switching backgrounds and changing the color palette of your Twitter page is easy to do. Simply select "Settings" in the top row of links on your Twitter page, click on the "Design" tab and then either select a "theme" or click on "Change background image" or "Change design colors" and get creative.

Don’t worry about goofing anything up. Any changes you make will not be visible to anyone but you until you click "save".

It doesn't matter what kind of background you upload or create for your twitter page, just make it about you!

Terrific Twitter Tool #5: Twitter Friend Adder

Hey, in the begining, you probably can do this manually. But the best way that I've grown my twitter following by 2000 people in about 30 days was by using Twitter Friend Adder.

It's $50, one time, can you can use the software for life! Add 90-110 friends (ie: you follow them) per day. Etiquette with twitter is that you follow back. So naturally, this is going to grow your follower base!

But remember, people won't follow for long if:

A) You haven't uploaded a picture of yourself and customized your page (see Tool #4)
B) You aren't actively communicating with anyone (I have about 30 people I talk to weekly)
C) You have WAY more following than followers. So try to keep it even alright?

Create 'em, Make 'em, Formulate 'em...

Don't buy 'em!!

"So I got started in my network marketing business. Now what?!"

(in unison) "Well... you call this lead vendor and buy some dirt cheap, aged, called-to-death leads. You know, the loons, the goons, the wimps and loser leads!"

Sounds appetizing right?

(blegh!) SPARE ME!

My biggest piece of advice? Create your own leads!

Sounds difficult? Not at all!

So why aren't more networkers making their own leads? Generating their own highly qualified prospects?

They over complicate the process.

They think that have nothing to bring to the marketplace. No value to offer anyone.

They think to contemplate to reevaluate to consider.

Their ego is too big to create a fun video online. (like lip synching to a famous 80's song while dancing with random office objects http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rATyar221P0)

They procrastinate and make excuses.

How do I know? I used to do ALL of that. I came up with every reason not to take action in what I KNEW in my heart would be successful. Mostly because I was brainwashed by the "right way" (gag me) to build a network marketing model.

You weigh the options?

Dial for dollars. Spend thousands on the "I don't have the money's" "I'm on SSI and Disability" ..."Is this a PYRAMID?!"

"Hi, I've seen you on YouTube, I've been following you and I know everything about your company, I just need your website to sign up."

The Power of Options

Hey you! It's been a while, I'm sure you missed my daily emails. Sorry that I took a week hiatus - but I have had so much going on. But what is new with you? Did you have a good Memorial Day weekend? Get to visit any family or friends?

Josh and I went to San Diego for the weekend and had the best time ever. We stayed a gorgeous little Hawaiian-themed resort called the Kona Kai in Shelter Island, visited the Zoo & Wildlife Animal Parks, ate at famous Peohe's in Coronado and spent the evening with some of the top internet marketers on the planet (Jonathan Budd, Katie Freiling, just to name a few...)

Today I want to talk to you about the power of Options.

Now you're probably wondering, what does Rachel mean by Options? And how can that be powerful?

There is a lifestyle we speak of so much in Network Marketing. The lifestyle of Beach Money (which I got to experience this weekend, being at the beach but making money)...

But more importantly, it's what that money can bring you...

And it brings you OPTIONS.

You now have the option to say how you want to spend your time.

Where you want to spend it. Do you want to spend it on the beach (yes please!), in the mountains, in the forrest, in the jungle, in the city?

Do you want to spend it with friends? Family? Meeting new people all over the world? Business associates and colleagues?

Do you want to spend your money or invest it?

Now that you have a residual income, do you want to start other ventures?

One of the greatest assets Network Marketing has brought me is the option and the ability to create other streams of income.

Strange huh?

NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT THAT.

But it's true. Say you make $5,000/month residual in a network marketing business.

You can continue growing that business full or part-time, but also take the profits in that business to invest in other ventures.

Social Media Making Your Feel Unsocial?

There is no doubt in my mind that Social Media (for most) can be exhausting. You have Facebook, YouTube, Myspace, Tweeter - no wait... Twitter, Linkedin, Digg, Squidoo, Friendster, Ning, Bacon Lettuce Cheese Special Sauce On a Seasame Seed bun! ... wait

While you're learning to tweet with your Tweeples and trying to decipher the hottest new techspeak - ("What's a vlog?!") You're already... passe.

Here's a few pointers on SIMPLIFYING your Social Media Routine:

1. Use Tools To Save You Time
There are programs out there to save you time and energy in chatting with people and adding friends to your social media pages. These programs like TweetDeck, TwitterFriend Adder, TubeBlaster Pro - are Godsends for me! I don't have time to sit and add a new friend every 10 minutes ...by Tubeblaster does it for me.
And TweetDeck? It manages all of my status updates, @replies, and DM's for Twitter.

2. Focus On High-Impact Messages
Keep your messages concise and only utilize high-impact content. Post news related to your industry... share useful links... post things that are funny and inspirational, with intriguing inside information about your business.
This will reduce your TOTAL communication and make you much more appreciate by your following. Sending out random, useless information will be construed as spam and downright annoying.

3. Don't Read Everything - Just Scan
Scan through status updates, videos, and posts ...zeroing in on things that are important to you or that you'd like to give feedback on.

4. Pick a Few - Discard The Rest
Unless you are a full time Social Media marketer, you probably don't have time to spend all day on every major SM site. So pick a few that offer the most value to you and discard the rest. For me, it's YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Maybe your more of a Myspace person? That's cool... Your choices will be different. But in the end, be selective and guard your time wisely.

5. Manage Your Time Wisely
Schedule Social Media into your day planner. Got 10 minutes every morning? Or how about a half hour M-W-F? But be sure to have boundaries — the rest of your life should be held sacred too.

Commitment

Or are you just messing around?

Mario Andretti said it perfectly:

”Desire is the key to motivation, but it's determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.”

Most people go through life being committed to their job, their spouse, their family and everyone else's expectations - yet somehow never to ourselves.

True commitment begins with being committed to SELF. Without self-commitment we are living in the world of hoping, wishing, pining, wanting, yearning.

The World of Wishing lacks clarity and focus. It often paints the picture of an illusion, living someone else's dream so that you do not have to take the responsibility of committing to oneself.

Ugh, "responsibility" - just sounds painful doesn't it? We take responsibility for others so easily, but we fail to take our own destiny in business with such gravity.

Often not making a commitment is because in the beginning it's common to feel overwhelmed in business.

There is so much to learn. The best way I have found to deal with this feeling, is to set aside a certain amount of time daily to devote to your new business.

You will have to decide how much time you can budget. But, make a commitment and stick to it. If you will spend a set amount of time working at your new business EVERY day, the results of those efforts will add up very quickly.

It's like the old saying, "The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time. Divide your tasks up into small chucks and do them one at a time. Before you know it, you will have accomplished a great deal.

Just make a commitment and hold yourself accountable If you will do that much, everything will eventually fall into place. Before you know it, you will be earning a steady income as an internet Network Marketer.

The Power of Passion & Enthusiasm

How are you? Hope all is well. I was talking with a friend on Monday morning about the keys to success in business. We got on the discussion of several topics, two of them I'm going to discuss in this email.

The first thing I want to discuss is PASSION.

According to the Small Business Association, if you start a business today, you have only about a 44% chance of being here two years from now.

When you are CHOOSING to start a business, you'll acheive great success (and satisfaction) if you LOVE what you do.

Consider David Kinch. Kinch is the owner and chef behind the Los Gatos, Calif., restaurant Manresa, one of the top 50 restaurants in the world according to Restaurant Magazine.

In a recent interview with the San Jose Mercury News, Kinch recalled how he started working in a New Orleans restaurant at the age of 15.

"From the first day, I knew I loved it and I didn't ever want to leave it," Kinch was quoted as saying.

What about you? What passion are you bringing to the table?

Could you use a shot to the arm (or toosh for that matter) ...a little more pep in your step?

Passion is what drives you.
Passion is what keeps you going on the tough days.
(WARNING WARNING, there ARE tough days ahead)
Passion is what keeps you from quitting.
Passion is what makes your prospect say "Yes" even if they don't understand.
Passion is infectious.

We could all use a little more passion in what we do.

And you HATE what you do. Stop doing it.

I repeat, STOP DOING WHAT YOU HATE.

My husband's friend John told me (after hearing me say that) ..."Oh Rachel, that's easier said than done."

Really?

"John, you hate what you do. What would you LOVE to do?"

He answered, going on a rabbit trail of owning his OWN business in real estate inspections.

He lit up. Like a FIRECRACKER. Get someone PASSIONATE about what they WANT - and if they don't have it - they WILL make a change to get to their desired end result.

...Secondly, I want to talk about EXCELLENCE.

Look around you. Is it just me or do you see a lack of excellence in our society today?

This is why my husband and I love the Olympic Games so much.

Celebrating Mom

I was always a card person. Every month you'd see me strolling into CVS or Walgreen's and meandering through the greeting card aisles finding the perfect set of cards to send out. I think I spent on average $40-50/month for about 10 cards.

I don't know who taught it to me, but I began sending cards and letters at an early age. I remember being "pen pals" with my cousin Erin in Iowa (I was in Wisconsin) and becoming a prolific note-writer.

I looked forward to holidays. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, St. Patricks Day. And my favorites - Father's Day and Mother's Day.

See I grew up with two sets of parents.

Some people look at that as a challenge - I viewed as being doubly blessed. Twice as many mom's....twice as many dad's. All loving me unconditionally (not to mention twice as many presents for birthdays and Christmas).

But every Mother's Day and Father's Day I'd find the best card to send each parent.

Mother's Day is this Sunday and it's not too late to show your appreciation for your mom. Or any mom that you know.

How about the teacher for your kids? She's kind of a mom, isn't she? What about some of the mom's at your church - they could use some appreciation and celebration couldn't they? Or even your daughter who is a mom for the very first time this year.

Celebrate Life Now. That is what my business has taught me.

Even greater than I ever understood it before.

Boundaries

Hurdles. Roadblocks. Detours. Red tape. Boundaries. Barriers. Whatever you want to call them we are bound to face them in business.

It's our duty, our mission to break THROUGH them.

Sometimes the roadblocks come in the form of a disapproving spouse. Sometimes they come in the form of long hours at your fulltime job. Sometimes a nagging health problem that leads you too fatigued to work your business.

Sometimes even a hurdle placed in front of you by really silly compliance charges via your Network Marketing company. (:

I see these detours, this red tape as my chance. My opportunity to rise above, continue to go higher and higher!

Nobody said this business was EASY! But don't ask for life to be EASY, ask for it to be WORTH IT.

The lesson today that I learned when I hit this certain barrier, was that it's always important to have many hooks in the water, [[firstname]]. MANY irons in the fire!

Imagine if you were only building your business due to cold calling and you got hung up on a nagging case of laryngitis. Ugh! Devistating to your prospecting (and to your wallet). But if you had been smart...

The same scenario, but you are also generating leads online, gathering referrals from your current customers, doing email marketing. See how much LESS inconvenient no voice would be?

You've heard the term of "Iron sharpens iron."

Whatever we don't allow to destroy us, will make us better. Strong. Sharper. Faster. More intuitive. More creative. More tactile and precise.

It's our job to treat these boundaries as what they are. And move beyond them. To not let them hang us up to dry! To not let them get us down, make us frusterated (for too long at least), and make us quit.

Don't stop three feet from gold just because you're tired or your Daddy says "No, you've gone to far!"

One of the most causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by a temporary defeat.

Let me tell you a story:

In the "Gold Fever" days someone from the Darby family in the US went west to dig for gold. He went there with pick and shovel. The going was hard, but his lust for gold was definite.

After weeks of labor, he was rewarded by the discovery of a shining ore. But he needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface.

So quietly he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Maryland. He told his relatives and some neighbors. They got together money for that machinery, had it shipped and he went with his nephew back to the mine.

They mined the first car and had it shipped to a smelter. The returns proved that they found one of the richest mines in Colorado.

A few more cars of that would clear all the debts he had. Then would come the big killing in profits. Down went the drills. Up went the hope.

But something happened. The vein of gold ore disappeared. They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there.They drilled on desperately trying to pick up the vein again. All to no avail.

Finally they decided to QUIT.

Here comes the important part.

They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars and took the train back home.

Some junk men are dumb but NOT THIS ONE.

He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed because the owners were not familiar with "Fault Lines". His calculations showed that the vein would be found "JUST THREE FEET FROM THE DARBYS HAD STOPPED DRILLING" and that EXACTLY where it was found!

The "junk" man took millions of dollars in ore from the mine, because he knew enough to seek expert council before giving up.

Now let us think of this story.

If you ask any self-made business owner he'll tell you that he had his success just after his biggest failure, just because he kept focusing on his desire and burned all the bridges behind him to have just only one way.

"I wanna do this. I don't know how I'm gonna do it. I JUST know I'M GONNA DO IT". That was one of the most sayings you may hear from successful people.
And you should use this saying in your life.

Change...

People are PRO's at resisting change. It never ceases to amaze me. Even if the world around them is falling to bits & pieces, people will hold on to the OLD WAY of doing things out of FEAR of the unknown.

Don't Be a Whiner

I got this amazing email from my upline mentor Jordan that I just had to share with you.

It's going to be quite blunt, quite candid...so don't get your panties in a bunch.


WHINING VS ENCOURAGING

There are distinctly 2 types of people. There are those that encourage and their are those that whine. I have never seen a whiner emerge as a strong leader.

If you want to be successful in business you must give up the whining and focus on encouraging others. YOU DO GET WHAT YOU FOCUS ON. When you focus on what's good, you get more of the good. If you focus on what's wrong...guess what?

This is a skill and it takes practice. I have never met a single successful and charismatic leader that complained about things. Period. Leaders and problem solvers and leaders are builders.

Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Kody Bateman, Mother Theresa, Bill Gates, Oprah and many others that have held great positions in leadership are not known as whiners.

Whiners are not winners. Whiners find lots of stuff that's always wrong. They are always blaming others and can't see any options.

Encouragers are edifiers. They see the good in others. Isn't it interesting that we are all working in the same environment, with the same company and the same system yet some are always finding the 'issues' and others just keep growing? Why is that?

Whiners are also out recruiting others to join their cause because they want to prove that things are messed up and that's why they can't succeed. What I find interesting is that Encouragers attract others like them and therefor their groups grow rapidly.

Whiners have every reason to whine because their group doesn't seem to grow. They typically don't see this, but many times the people they are trying to recruit don't want to be around them so they just disappear.

Each moment you can choose be a whiner or an encourager. As an encourager, you'll be sending out positive energy so that others want to be around you as much as they possibly can.

As a whiner, people come in to your life and go out of your life just as quickly as they arrived. I rarely hear complaints and whining from people that are growing in their lives.

You are being led by fear or you are being led by love. Love is growing - fear is dying. When you are green you grow - when you are ripe you rot. Encouraging is rooted in love. Whining is rooted in fear.

I whiner will say, "How can I build this with all of these problems?"

An encourager won't usually notice the little problems because they are playing a much bigger game.

An encourager will continue to attract and encourage and their team just grows and grows and grows.

In the meantime, they will pass along any issues to those that can do something about them and then continue to build.

The Upper Echelon...

I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was very blessed! I spent the last few days enveloped by my business (in a good way!)

Last Thursday I was honored to spend some quality time up in Jerome, AZ with the Elite of the Elite in my Home Based Business. We chatted, we schmoozed, we ate and laughed along with the top income earners, the upper echelon, even our CEO & Founder.

The next day, we came back down to Phoenix to take part in a VIP event where Sr. Managers, Executives, and Sr. Executives come together for a 2-hour in-depth training.

Enthusiasm - It's Power is Profound

Yesterday I was talking with a friend about our business as he's looking to get started in the next day or so. I asked him nonchalantly:

"Aren't you excited!?"

And he responded: "I'll be excited when I start making money."

We laughed and agreed, but it got me thinking about Enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm is one of the single most underestimated, underutilized, under appreciated factors in creating success. People don't care if you have all the answers, all the facts, or all of the right vernacular. They are more intrigued by your excitement and passion... because that's exactly what 98% of the population is missing in this world!

Why is enthusiasm so important?

#1. It's 100% Contagious.
Very few people who once in contact with someone who is enthusiastic can remain unmoved. Try it out for yourself. Make it your own little self experiment.

Never again will you let a day pass without doing something to accomplish towards your goals. We go through life often making mistakes and errors of judgment. We are all human! That's what we do. Enthusiasm leaves the past aside and focuses on the excitement and possibilities of NOW.

Choosing Your Team

And it is. The only stress and pressure that is on me, is the amount I apply to myself.

If I am not feeling good, or if I am hitting road blocks. I can take a couple hours - go to the park. Walk my dog. Go exercise. Go shopping. Take a nap. Go out to eat with friends.

But I Can't Make it...

I made a huge mistake. (Looking back) and I'm the first to admit it. A year ago, I was going through some very stressful times personally.

I decided to take a (much needed) hiatus from my business and just focus on life, my husband, and growing personally and spiritually.

At this time, it coincided with one of the biggest events of the year for my company. I couldn't bare to go, with all of the drama that was going on - so I did it - I CANCELLED my trip.





It wasn't about the money. It wasn't about the time commitment. It was legitimate why I decided not to attend...

But I made a mistake.

1. I told my team I wasn't going.
2. So therefore, none of them attended.

And my team stalled after that event. For months. (And months)

Your companies trainings and events offer your new distributors a great sense of what the company is all about.

It greats a trust factor in the leadership of Corporate, their vision and their goals for us distributors.

It brings like-minded individuals together with an "I can rule the world" attitude that can leave residual affirmation for months.



Trainings from your company does not end with in-person events. Personally we have Monday night calls and bi-weekly corporate calls. These trainings are absolutely essential for building massive momentum with your new reps.

I am not ashamed to admit my mistakes to you. I want you to LEARN from my mistakes so you do not have to go through the same struggles I have experienced in my Network Marketing career.

I recorded a video yesterday on the importance of Leadership Development in that Internet Network Marketing industry.

Leadership

Somebody told me the other day that I was a great leader. I appreciate the sentiment but encouraged her to think that of herself as well!

See, this woman is about twice my age and just joining Network Marketing for the first time. She's affluent, has a great network of people she knows, and plenty of business experience.

Her mindset right now is that she is a "newbie."

On the contrary...

The mind of a leader happens before the destination.

Meaning, it's not the endpoint, but it's the process.

Leadership Development is one of the highest skill levels to obtain in our industry and the most underutilized.

People spend thousands to learn how to Prospect & Close their way to millions. And that's all well and good.

But if they put as much focus or more, into becoming a great leader and obtaining the qualities people are looking for - they wouldn't need to close. Prospects would close themselves.

I was thinking of some of the qualities that makes a great leader.


1. Communication - Duh.

2. People skills - Do you work well with others? Probably not as well as you think. Read "How to Win Friends & Influence People" monthly.

3. Knowing personality types, how to define them, motivate and encourage them, and appeal to them

4. Collaboration - a great leader says "Let's go do it!" not "You go do it!"

5. Consistency - a bad leader doesn't stay the path. They change directions and messages often.

6. Caring - people don't care about how much you know until they know how much you care.

The Truth

There is one Truth about Network Marketing that nobody ever told me. The Truth is what I have learned from my experiences in this field, in this industry, bringing on reps all over the world.

What is The Truth?

1. You will fail (at times)
2. You will fall down and scrape your knee.
3. You will waste money.
4. You will waste time (oh yes)
5. You will want to quit at some point.

Pretty awful right? I didn't say it was easy.

"Don't ask for it to be easy, ask for it to be worth it."

Guess what though?

You are not alone. And when you make your mistakes - remember them as best as you can and try not to repeat that mistake.

There are several mistakes I have made over and over and over and over before I EVER learned my lesson.

And that's okay.

Because this is not just a job, this is not just a business. This is a career path and you are on the road of learning and knowledge to Master this field!

Remember to:
1. Be consistent
2. Be persistent
3. Never give up.

I learned about several elements of success from a top internet network marketer, and guess what? They are the same elements required for success offline:

1. You must become a leader.
2. You must LOVE your business, product/service.
3. You must attend company trainings/events.
4. You must develop leaders.

How long should you try? Until.

They Told Me It Couldn't Be Done

They told me it can't be done.

"You can't take SendOutCards and build it successfully online!"
"It's never going to duplicate."
"You're just wasting your time."

That's what they told me.

But I'm a rebel without a cause (and I'm going platinum - never mind...Kid Rock song, back to topic) ...

I wanted to prove "Them" wrong. It fueled me to find the most duplicable system and pair it with SOC's awesome training.

I know I could succeed.

Today was a huge turning point.

Recruiting online has been fun. I'm not going to lie, it's been fun, virtually free, and well - straight up EASY.

I've branded myself. Learned from some great marketers like Daegan Smith, Jonathan Budd, Katie Freiling and Jason Shawver.

I've utilized video marketing to connect and create relationships with hundreds (if not thousands) out there watching.

And people just keep coming into our business.

ALL without MY HELP. I showed them how to do a gift account, gave them some basic training, and let them lose (just like anybody else I've ever signed up from warm market).

And they DID IT.

Some will succeed.

Social Media Giants - At War!

Don't you ever wish you had another hour in the day? Lord knows that hour would most likely be consumed with busy work, laundry, picking up after the kids, or doing menial chores.

But what if that extra hour could be spent Laser-Focused on some activity. An activity that you're already doing (albeit maybe a bit haphazardly). An activity that could dramatically increase the success in creating hot, targeted leads for your Home Based Business.

So what activity is this?

Cold-calling?
I don't think so!

Going to a networking event?
Well...I guess that COULD work.

Chasing your Aunt Sue and Uncle Tommy about your newest latest greatest potion, lotion or notion?
Oh heck no.

The answer:

SOCIAL MEDIA.

Wait...wha!?!?

Yeah, you heard me. SOCIAL MEDIA. You know the giants: Myspace, Facebook, and this up & coming newbie called "Twitter."

The Social Networking giants are at war. The big players MySpace and Facebook still rule the roost, in terms of influence and network traffic but a new player Twitter has entered the scene, and though it has a long way to go to be a real contender is gaining followers fast.

Twitters power lies, perhaps, in the ease with which it’s interface can transmit potentially valuable information instantaneously to tens of thousands of individuals, each of whom has the option to resend it, with minimal clicks, to further tens of thousands of fresh recipients. This feature enables news to spread like wildfire.

The Twitter power lies in the ability to instantly, with EASE, transmit (potentially) powerful information to tens of thousands of people --- whom has the option to resend or "Retweet" with minimal clicks, to further tens or hundreds of thousands of fresh followes.

Twitter's microblogging feature enables realtime news to spread faster than a wildfire on a hot, dry California day!

For example a few weeks ago, the news of South East Australia’s earthquake was common knowledge around the globe via Twitter long before news agencies had a chance to get a handle on it.

Twitt'er smicroblogging messages display no more than 140 characters, allowing users to filter through hundreds or thousands of messages (Tweets) and quickly pull out only valuable info (which in most cases is elaborated on) to a Tiny Url link.

So, which Giant is Winning the War?

Myspace - down 28%
Facebook - up 149%

Facebook is looking to take the lead with about 200 million users, compared to the rapidly expanding Twitter's 6 million.

But, it may be too early to tell. Sarah Lacy of "Business Week" suggests "if anyone wants a shot at beating Facebook at its own game, Twitter is the property to get you there."

So how can you utilize these rapidly growing Social sites?

How can we turn these activities of participation in them from "time-wasters" to "productivity" tools?

It's important to educate yourself about the Do's and Don'ts of Social Media.

Here's a quick list of Do's and Dont's that I've compiled for an easy tutorial of things to keep in the forefront of your Social Networking mind:

1. Don't have a self-promotion agenda.
Social Media is about building relationships. It's also about the VALUE you add to the community. And I'm not talking about your product or service. it's about the INFORMATION you have to offer. Read "The Next Millionaires" by Paul Zane Pilzer for more information.

2. Don't Continuously Link-drop
People want to get to know you. They will learn about you, your likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests and then SEARCH OUT your link. Once you've created a large following, link dropping can be done tastefully and

3. Too Much Too Fast
We've all seen the social sin of gluttony in beginners who look at social media as a new channel that is built to serve them. They jump in and devour all the services they have read about and quickly find themselves swamped, ineffective and wasting everyone's time.

4. Don't be Lazy
Participate. That's all. And regularly - daily in fact.

5. Do Spend Time On Your Profile
Don't be sparse. Be positive in your profile and be authentic. List your likes, dislikes, hobbies, and interests so that people can connect with you. I had a woman add me on Facebook just because she saw that "The Passion of the Christ" was one of my favorite movies. (P.S. Happy Easter!)

6. Add Photos, Add Videos
Be seen and be heard. People want to know that you're a living, breathing person with a real life. Share photos from trips you've taken recently, of your family, friends, pets. It will create rapport and likeability.

TwitterNation

Chances are unless you've been completely living in the dark for the past couple of months - you've been hearing about the phenomenon called Twitter.com.

Twitter is quickly becoming one of the most amazingly popular social media networking site on the World Wide Web. Now with over six million users (and growing!) this microblogging site has attracted everyone from President Obama to NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal.

Twitter is the must-be-on place right now on ther internet. It actually trumps Google but getting "real time" date about literally ANYTHING that is happening in our society today.

Admittedly, I didn't jump on the Twitter bandwagon immediately. I heard about it over a year ago and I definitely underestimated the importance of how powerful this site really is.

But now, along with Facebook & YouTube, Twitter is one at the top of my priority list for Social Media.

So recently, a friend and colleague of mine was able to generate over 75 leads for his business just by sending out 1 tweet to his list of over 15,000 dedicated
followers.

How insane is that!?

75 Leads in 2 minutes...for FREE? Those same leads would cost $1-9 from a home based business lead provider. Say they averaged $4 each - that would have cost $300 for prospects that THEN YOU have to COLD CALL (blegh!)

Using Google Adwords? Probably would have cost DOUBLE THAT.

It's not NECESSARY, but if you want a way to automatically add Twitter friends and build a following - this is is. If you're on a shoe-string budget? Just add friends one-by-one by finding other people of like-minded values.


Step #5. Find Like-Minded Individuals to Follow

Share anything:

*Interesting
*Educational
*Funny
*News-worthy


Step #8. Re-Syndicate Content You Like
Can be your own videos, blogs, articles, or it can be stuff created by other people (especially popular content). http://www.digg.com is create source for other people's interesting content.


Step #9. It's All About Relationship Marketing
Don't just add friends. Interact with them! Send them DM (direct messages) or use the @-feature by typing @theirusername to reply and message to their Twitter page.

Social Media - Just Hype?

A new study by Universal McCann called "When did we start trusting strangers?" describes a “new influencer landscape” which is characterized by three significant trends:

1. Rise in Social Media
2. Importance of "digital" friends
3. Proliferation of influencer channels

The study also mentions the impact of this phenomenon: an influence economy, the democratization of influence, and the new “super influencer.” Some figures to illustrate the study’s findings:

* 44% of people surveyed have a blog (compared to 28% in 2006)
* 57.5% have a page on a social network (compared to 27% in 2006)
* 42% download video clips (compared to 10% in 2006)
* 34% of users share their opinions about music
* 55% share their photos online

Internet users do not rely on just the brands to inform themselves. While 69% visit brands’ official websites, 82% prefer to search for information on a search engine or to read people’s comments on personal profiles on social networks like Facebook, for example (55%).

Internet users’ preferred method for exchanging information about a product is
MSN Messenger (44.5%).
E-mail comes in at a close second (42.4%),
followed by blogs (30.4%),
and social networks (27.6%).

According to McCann, brands should act according to four principles:

* Transparency and honesty with consumers, without becoming ‘hyper-transparent’
* Participate in conversations that generate discussion: create blogs, be present in social networks, etc.
* Consider every person as a potential influencer and encourage the target audience to share its opinions
* Approach new creators: bloggers, video creators, podcasters, etc.

According to McCann, it’s these new creators who will represent one of the most important forces in the years to come. Brands should try to work with them, and above all, not underestimate them. Or is that misunderestimate them?

Buliding a List - 10 Tips

How are you? I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was wonderful, we had our co-breeders Bill & Dena in town to show two of their bulldogs at the Dog Show in Phoenix. It was wonderful being apart of that I can't wait to begin showing MY dogs.

Anyhow, there's a lot of talk going on about "building a list." In fact, when you search Google, there are 215,000,000 results for "build a list." WOW! Must be pretty important. (;

Building a list, a following, a plethora of subscribers is key if you want to be success in marketing any product, service or idea.

We look at the top income earners of our industry and one Common Denominator we can attribute to their success is they have consistently and predictably built a network of like-minded people that trusted them, liked them, and followed them.

Wouldn't you want to duplicate that?

There are many ways to begin building and expanding your network, both online and offline. Here are some great tips.

1. If you don't have a newsletter yet, start one. I use GetResponse, it's is a great web-based email marketing software for publishing newsletters and hosting your mailing lists.
It's much easier to use than Aweber and most affordable too. Sign up for GetResponse here. People always want to learn about topics of their interest.

2. Make sure there are plenty of places on your websites for people to subscribe. If you have a company-replicated website, then generate your own Lead Capture/Squeeze page like this one: http://7figure.thecardteacher.com

3. Ask for as little information as possible. Name & email, and maybe phone number.

4. Be forthright and persuasive with potential subscribers to what they will be gaining when they opt-in to your list.

5. Archive your past emails and link to them on your website, here is a great example: http://blog.thecardteacher.com

6. Don't be afraid to recommend other newsletters, products, trainers or services your readers could benefit from. They will appreciate it and thank you for being a wealth of knowledge. Recommended sites / newsletters may even return the favor and recommend your newsletter!

7. Create an ebook or audio that you will give away as incentive for people to sign up. I recorded a 45 minute interview with a 7-figure income earner recently and have generated dozens of leads in the last few weeks from offering that interview!

8. Start with your warm market list and create buzz from those individuals.

9. Allow reprinting of your content as long as your links/bio are still intact. I've seen many of my videos and blogs out there on the internet posted on sites I didn't even know exsisted! Whatever gets your word out...

10. Find hundreds or even thousands of relevant keywords with services like Wordtracker. and then promote your squeeze page using PPC (pay-per-click) advertising, such as Google Adwords, Yahoo Sponsored Search, MSN adCenter, and more.


Building your list and your network can take time but will pay off. The next time you launch a new product, a new service or have joined an opportunity - you can leverage that list to create immediate results!

The old way of network marketing is dead?

Now now now, I don't mean to be misleading. But what a freakin' JOKE! I heard this today and I thought... "you've got to be kidding me!"

Don't get me wrong... are there new ways to approach network marketing? Absolutely - I am living proof of these methods.

But let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater!

For the next few ways I want to give you some simple (dead simple) steps to network your business opportunity, product and service.


1. Send an unexpected card everyday
-------------------------------------

Are you at all suprised? C'mon! This is NUMERO UNO (Number One!) You need to be sending out Heartfelt Cards each and every day to build your business. How does it help you?

Well you can reconnect with old friends and colleagues, send out gratitude and positivity (in this negative world), introduce SOC with a DVD or Infopak and so on and so forth.

Plus it builds faith in the product and service we offer. Send at least a card a day, I send five each day (on average!)


2. Personal demo
------------------

Hello! If sending cards was NUMERO UNO ...this is NUMBERO UNO-A. (Number One-A)...meaning it goes hand in hand. We call a personal demo in SendOutCards a "gift account walkthrough" aka the GAW.

Doing GAW's each and everyday gives the ability for someone you know to send an unexpected card to someone they care about.

Something MAGIC happens when they send a card.

I've personally given out 800+ GAW's in the last two years. 200 of those people said "Yes! I want to become a user/distributor" of SOC. Not too shabby. Those 200 have turned into over 1,000 users and distributors on our team. Again...not too shabby.


3. Public seminars
-------------------

Hey, I know that Public Speaking is one of the greatest fears on earth (even greater than dying!)...but if you are the first to grab a "mic" maybe this is a stragey for you. Many Chambers and Rotery's are looking for speakers. Trade organizations always need fresh presenters to keep their members enlightened and engaged.

Make a few calls and develop a killer speech/presentation on topics like: Referral Marketing, Relationship Building, Sending Handwritten Cards, the SOC Biz Opp, etc.


4. Teleseminars/Webinars
---------------------------

See above. Except you can do it in your underwear (btw, tmi).



5. Specialize in a niche
------------------------

Pick a niche get rich? Well, kinda. Niches allow you be more focused. More specialized. You can create targeted campaign pieces for niches than will yield greater results.

Sometimes our marketing is too general to the point where NOBODY will be interested. For instance, my marketing on YouTube is specific to those looking at a business opportunity but also has interests in English Bulldogs (since I breed them)... I've created many leads for those who love dogs and Bullies, but also want to work from home!

Pick a niche, get rich? You have to take action. Just by selecting a niche doesn't mean automatic success?

When I got started in business for myself - I decided to focus on insurance agencies. Easy target for me because my husband and I OWNED an agency for a few years. Instant rapport, instant crediability.

You don't own a business? Choose a family member or friend who does.

"Hi, my name is So&So and work with ABC (your brother's) Plumbing..."
